E-Ink screens are made up of millions of small microcapsules.
These capsules, about the diameter of a human hair, are filled with tiny particles of different colors, usually black and white.
Electric fields are then used to gather the particles of the desired color on top of the microcapsule, usually the white particles have a positive charge and the black ones a negative one.
For example, if we want to make a single microcapsule become black, it will be enough to apply a negative field to it to make all the black particles rise to the top, doing so for each single microcapsule will compose the desired image.
